Around The World In 80 Days and the 29th Academy Awards
Get your hot air balloon, train, steamboat and elephant ready cause we are going Around The World In 80 Days! The 1956 adventure film took home the Best Picture award that year for its large screen take of the world and cameo filled cast. We discuss the film’s intro using the classic silent film, A Trip To The Moon (1902), and how that is treated with the rest of the film.
The Worthy boys also delve into some of the questionable choices with representing world cultures, the use of cameo appearances and who really is the lead of this film between Cantinflas and David Niven. With a blockbuster filled year in 1956, Around The World In 80 Days fought its way up to get the top prize.
