The Sound of Music and the 38th Academy Awards
The Worthy boys are climbing every mountain to bring you a breakdown of the classic Julie Andrews-led musical The Sound of Music! Ben and Jon open the episode with a breakdown of film criticism and how critics have changed and molded our society. The boys also discuss how the 1966 Academy Award ceremony was broadcasted on the ABC network and was the first to be broadcast live in color!
The two most nominated films of 1965 were The Sound of Music and Doctor Zhivago, each with ten nominations and five wins! The Sound Of Music was even the first Best Picture winner since Hamlet (1948) without a screenwriting nomination and would be the last film until Titanic (1997) to not receive a screenwriting nomination.
